Work

A quick overview of the places that I've worked and the roles that I've had in the organisations. If you are interested in what I used at these companies then you can check out /tech.

PocketHealth

A medical imaging platform that allows patients to easily access and their exams, and provides over 2 million patients in Canada and the US with tools to help them understand their results.

Senior Software Engineer

As a member of the Patient Engagement team I built out functionality and experiences for improving how users interact with and understand their medical data. I mentored junior and intermediate engineers in front-end best practices, working across our Angular monorepo and Go microserices.

Tiny Mile (Pink Bot)

A Toronto-based robotics start-up operating in Miami, Florida working to reduce emissions and create a sustainable last-mile delivery solution. They have changed their name to Pink Bot since my time there.

Senior Software Engineer

I worked across multiple front-end applications and Go microservices aiming to create experiences that would delight users. I created a React Native iOS app, alongside working on other React and Svelte web applications as well.

Akira (TELUS Health Virtual Care)

Acquired by TELUS in 2019, Akira (or TELUS Health Virtual Care as it is now known, THVC as we called it for short) is the leading telemedicine platform in Canada, providing over three million Canadians with access to on-demand healthcare, 24 hours a day via their smartphone or the web.

Engineering Team Lead

I lead a team to manage user eligibility and client success. We developed the React UI applications for patient enrollments and our admin interface, as well as parts of our Ruby monolith backend and created a Node microservice to improve the eligibility management system.

Full-Stack Engineer

The start of my software career. I worked on a Ruby backend with multiple React front-end applications, across multiple domains including our clinician, patient and admin interfaces. As we grew I worked closely with our design team to lay the foundation for translating the internal design system into code.

My previous life

Back in the UK, before I wrote software for a living I went to school for art conservation, I spent many years working in my family business restoring and gilding 17th-19th century European picture frames. And after attending university at the City & Guilds of London Art School I worked at the Royal Collection Trust for 2 years working on cataloging all the frames in the collection, I got through over 3500 I think. I wrote a small article for their website that is hopefully still available here: https://www.rct.uk/collection/stories/frames-in-the-royal-collection
